Porcelain Story
There are porcelain works that, at first glance, do not cause much enthusiasm. In any case, among connoisseurs who are not sufficiently experienced in the intricacies of this art. It seems to me that I myself was quite recently like that. And now, trying to look at the works exhibited for your review, I understand why some of them remain not fully felt, or something, even among those who regularly follow the publications in our daily column. No, it does not offend me at all and does not even alarm me. After all, I understand that a large composition with many characters involved in some kind of exciting plot can arouse much more interest. And if we also emphasize any parameters of uniqueness (a very limited series, the name of a famous sculptor, or the solid age of the product), then even a viewer who is not particularly versed in the intricacies of porcelain can find the work incredibly interesting.
But, believe me, there are other parameters of the uniqueness of the product. For example, this, at first glance, rustic and very small work is more valuable to me than many limited editions. And that's why. I have already mentioned that my favorite porcelain manufactory is the Spanish company Lladró. Created in the late 1950s by the three Lladro brothers, in a short time it was able to reach unprecedented heights in the history of world porcelain art. I am not trying to impose my point of view on anyone, but in my opinion, the Lladro brothers, who went through a good professional school in German manufactories in their youth, managed to create their own unique direction in the world porcelain production. Many of their works are recognized as unique. And I am pleased to know that most of the unique works created by Spanish masters are collected in our collection.
That is why such works as this one, which appeared at the very beginning of the independent creative path of the Lladro brothers, are of particular interest to me, as well as to many collectors. Our family was lucky in different years to meet with representatives of three generations of Lladro, as well as with artists and sculptors who brought fame to this manufactory. And therefore, everything related to the history of the formation of this world-famous brand is very close and dear to us. By the way, both in the full and in the figurative sense of the word.
