Dear friends

I welcome you to the unique museum of porcelain sculptures, something you have probably never seen before. One of the reasons for that is that the largest collections of porcelain that are displayed today in renowned museums were created over hundreds of years. At their origins, as a rule, were powerful monarchs or influential nobles who lived in different historical eras and spent huge fortunes on their collections. Then, after their departure, the state took over the preservation and replenishment of the collections, like in Germany, for example, or Spain, or Italy, or Austria, or Japan, or Denmark.

In our case, everything was different. Not far from this building is a place in which I had to spend many years among the same as me, orphans and children from incomplete, as they used to say, families. Each of us had our own difficult fate. And each of us had our own cherished dream. I dreamed of becoming a journalist and visiting other countries. At the time, this dream seemed impossible. And it was understandable, since I could only rely on my own strength. I could hardly imagine, back in the early 1970s, that time would pass and I would eventually fulfill my dreams, that I would be lucky enough to visit almost 100 countries around the world. From dozens of countries, I managed to bring various outlandish items to Kyiv. And, over time, itl grew into a collection of porcelain – rare material capable of conveying both beauty, and elegance, and warmth, and kindness, and, if you will, even love.

This is what the "City of Porcelain" looks like near Valencia, where unique products are created that collectors and museum workers from all over the world dream of visiting

The world-famous sculptor Francisco Polope really likes the bright Ukrainian vyshyvanka brought especially for him.

It all started with a small figurine made of Spanish porcelain, which my wife and I bought on the Spanish island of Mallorca. And since then, we have been so fired up with the idea of gathering a collection of Spanish Lladro porcelain – in our opinion, the best in the world – that we began to literally hunt for it across countries and continents. And a little later, having decided to demonstrate to everyone that Spanish porcelain is really the best in the world, we began to supplement the collection with products from other well-known manufactories. We had to visit dozens of different countries for this – from the United States and Argentina to New Zealand and Singapore. And we brought porcelain and porcelain, and porcelain from everywhere... It became so much that neither at home nor at work there was already not the slightest free space. And then the idea to open a museum was born.

At the anniversary exhibition of works by one of the most famous Ukrainian masters of porcelain art, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of V.I. Shcherbina, we were lucky to meet Vladislav Ivanovich personally

In Kyiv there is a "Museum-of-one street". Our museum, following the same logic, could be called a "Museum-of-one dream". After all, the ability to dream is given to each of us. But, unfortunately, not everyone manages to make their dream come true. In this sense, we are, of course, lucky. Firstly, to meet kind people who constantly helped us with something in this matter. And many even replenished the collection, generously presenting unique gifts. Secondly, to believe in yourself and give others the belief that dreams do come true. If you
truly believe in them and also truly strive for them, ignoring the obstacles and trials of life, which, unfortunately, fate throws up to us in large numbers.

Work on preparing the museum for the opening did not stop for a day for nine months. A full-scale war was already underway, the enemy was advancing on Kyiv, air raid sirens were constantly howling, and sometimes explosions of cruise missiles flying into the area were heard in the immediate vicinity. But we, like that "majolica pivnik" from Borodianka, did not give up. Because we were driven by a dream.

And so it came true...
