Porcelain Story
On March 4, 2018, our daily column "Figure of the Day" had a small anniversary. In honor of which I presented to the attention of my readers the 300th porcelain composition. Ten months before this date, a few days after the beginning of my presence on Facebook, I decided to greet the birthday people on their holiday by getting acquainted with the rare beauty of works created by the hands of outstanding masters of porcelain art. I started with a brief description of the work and a few words addressed to the heroes of the day. But then I got so carried away that I didn’t even notice how big the stories about the history of the search and acquisition of many unique works for our collection became.
Every day for months (and now even years) I devoted my time to choosing something "delicious" and outwardly attractive from the collection, so that the improbability of the plot, the detailing of the costumes of the heroes of the composition, the naturalism of the recreation of animals and plants would evoke this beauty feeling of sincere delight. Prepared viewers, collectors and connoisseurs do not need to explain for a long time why this or that work is attractive. Sometimes one glance is enough for them to understand how rare or even the rarest piece of porcelain can be. But that's the whole hitch, that I never set myself the task of surprising someone, astonishing, shocking, making them admire or, God forbid, envy. I wanted, I want and, I hope, I will continue to want to share the joy of enjoying the knowledge of this beauty - in all its smallest details and nuances of creation, in all the features of its search, discovery and acquisition for only one main thing - to give those of us the opportunity to enjoy this bliss who is predisposed to the perception of a man-made miracle. After all, almost all the works collected in our collection are created by hand. Often eminent artists. Often in extremely limited editions, of which most of the products end up in private collections that are inaccessible to a viewer keen on this topic.
Many times I thought that no one needs it. That this only loads people with unnecessary and not very important information, who are already daily forced to solve a lot of current problems and constantly emerging new issues. Moreover, against the backdrop of a general crisis in economic and political relations, which each of us and all of us together, whether we like it or not, constantly pass through our hearts, sometimes driving ourselves into a hopeless stupor. And here I am with my stories about some porcelain figurines...
And every time - thanks in large part to you, my friends - again and again I came to the idea that it still couldn’t harm anyone, but it’s quite possible to please... Note that the key word in the entire this story is to please. After all, I also constantly convince myself that I want to please you, but in fact, with this whole process, I please myself.
Well, tell me, how can one not rejoice at today's unique porcelain composition, in which there is so much expression?! How can one not be glad that this and thousands of other works from our collection will not need to be looked for in museums of different countries (and, besides, they will not be found in many museums), but it will be enough to get out one fine day with close people to the museum - and get such a charge of positive energy that will last for a long time.
All. I will no longer distract you from this rare (please pay attention - very large in scale and replete with many subtle details) work.
