Porcelain Story
Whether you like it or not, this plot scene has always reminded me of only one literary heroine, about whom the authors who gave birth to her wrote this: ''William Shakespeare's dictionary, according to researchers, is 12,000 words. The vocabulary of a negro from the cannibalistic tribe '' Mumbo-Yumbo '' is 300 words. Ellochka Schukina easily and freely managed thirty". I think you have already guessed that we are talking about a bright and forever memorable heroine of the brilliant novel by Ilf and Petrov ''The Twelve Chairs''. The first time I saw this work was in the distant and beautiful city of Buenos Aires.
It was a very long time ago. And the very stay in the capital of Argentina was so official and short that I didn’t manage to see much, much less to actually visit. And this porcelain composition caught my eye and was remembered only because I took the novel ''The Twelve Chairs'' with me on a long trip, which did not take up much space in my luggage, which was always convenient to read (from anywhere!) and quote funny. ''Hamite... Let's go by taxi... Boy... Horror... Gloom... Famous... Don't teach me how to live...'' overgrown with the now familiar continuation of ''... better help financially''.
I saw this figurine in a rather unexpected place - in the window of a chic hotel, where my colleagues and I were lucky to stay for a few days. I did not even attempt to clarify whether this beautiful thing was for sale, since I did not yet show much interest in porcelain at that time. To be honest, at that time I did not show any interest in porcelain at all. Therefore, I limited myself to a careful and repeated examination of the subject, which so characteristically illustrates the book I have just read once again. That's why I remember the porcelain ogre Ellochka so well that after many years, when I met her at one of the Internet auctions, I unmistakably determined: that's her ... exactly her. Now this rather large and at the same time very elegant composition reminds me of glorious Buenos Aires, a city with wide and very beautiful avenues, as well as incredibly attractive European women. Much more attractive than the heroine of the novel by Ilf and Petrov.
