Porcelain Story
For many years this incredibly beautiful work of the famous German manufactory stood in my editorial office. It is amazing - thin, graceful, with the smallest detail of the head and paws of this fantastic, as if alive, bird...
In general, I really like the products created by the masters of Hutschenreuther. They are very similar to Meissen. Especially birds and animals. But, unlike Meissen, their works are executed in a softer and more subtle manner, evoking a feeling of complete reality of the plot ... And how do you like this almost half-meter marvelous tail?
You know, two dates are marked on the international calendar on this day, which may seem like a coincidence to some. But there is no coincidence in this, it turns out, at all. Exactly 20 years ago, on December 10, 1998, on the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Human Rights, International Animal Rights Day was established. Thus, celebrating it simultaneously with Human Rights Day, it was decided to emphasize that all living beings on earth have the same right to life and protection from suffering.
It would be possible to speak about this topic for a long time, and correctly. But I decided to dwell on a short episode drawn from our past, still Soviet, life. Although this could happen anywhere and anytime. After all, it is more about a symbol. About the symbolic attitude of different people to the suffering of their own kind, and our smaller brothers ...
One compassionate woman went out every morning to a nearby park to feed the birds. In her hands she invariably held a fresh loaf, which she crumbled in front of her, collecting a large flock of birds flying from all sides. Having fed them a loaf, dusted off her hands and went home. Once, at that moment, a caring, as they say, passerby stopped her at that moment:
“Here you are, every day, feeding some birds a loaf of bread. And at this very time in Africa, people are dying of hunger!
“I also feel sorry for the unfortunate Africans,” the woman answered innocently. - Only I can’t get a loaf to Africa ...
There are many people who, in words, are ready to warm and feed the whole world. But for some reason, in practice, even for a penny, they practically do nothing to anyone. And at the same time habitually teach others.
