Porcelain Story

I don’t know if there is a person who, at least once in his life, has not had to pay attention to this plot, embodied on canvas by the famous Austrian artist Gustav Klimt. Probably not. But only after visiting Vienna, and even more so after walking through the places where Klimt himself lived in it, you begin to notice how much this story is replicated. You come across Klimt's 'Kiss' literally everywhere in Vienna - in museums, shops, on the streets, in the famous Viennese confectioneries... Women's scarves, men's wallets, tourist buses and tram stops are decorated with this plot.

Some art historians claim that in a huge painting (180x180 cm) presented at the Belvedere Gallery in Vienna, the artist depicted himself and the love of his life, Emilia Flegge, a famous fashion designer. Others tend to attribute other names to the heroine of the plot. However, what no one disputes is the incredible technique of using bright colors, especially gilding, on the clothes of the characters in the picture. It delights everyone - both specialists and ordinary art lovers. Gustav Klimt's father was a famous gold engraver. And it is to his influence that the artist's early fascination with bright colors, especially the use of gold in writing his paintings, is attributed. However, at the same time, Gustav's enthusiastic perception of mosaics in the ancient palaces of Venice is often mentioned, which also affected his work.

In our collection there are several works created by Spanish porcelain masters based on the works of Klimt. This work seems to me the most expressive. And not only because of its impressive size. As strange as it may seem to someone, in this work even such a seemingly cold material as porcelain is able to convey an unusually strong feeling of the artist to the chosen one of his heart. Moreover, it is so strong that its energy seems to be transferred to a person standing next to the composition...
