Porcelain Story
It's hard to believe, but there are watches in which the clock mechanism simply does not matter! As paradoxical as it sounds, it really does happen, when it comes to porcelain watches. The tradition of creating porcelain cases for fully functional watch movements has existed for hundreds of years. And such clocks often decorated not only offices, state rooms or sleeping quarters of nobles and representatives of royal families. Clocks in porcelain cases were sometimes installed even on the facades of rich mansions or palace complexes.
One of the most striking examples is the porcelain clock on the facade of the famous Zwinger Palace in Dresden, whose unusual chime announces the surroundings every 15 minutes. In our collection there are many watches created at different manufactories. The work presented today by my favorite Spanish sculptor Francisco Polope is valuable, first of all, of course, not for its clockwork. Its is ordinary. Unusual is the composition of the body, decorated with delicate angels and finest fine flowers.
