Porcelain Story

I have long wanted to introduce you to this amazing work of porcelain art, which I found many years ago at one of the American online auctions. I admired this huge (almost a meter long) work all these years, each time finding in it details that had not been noticed before. But there are many such details - you can easily see for yourself. In addition, figures of Hawaiian dancers surround this composition. They are not part of the plot. But, having collected them in different years in different countries, I saw how beautifully they increase the scale of the stylized picture of the Hawaiian holiday. You know, it looks amazing in real life!..

I wanted to introduce you to this boat for a long time, but I still couldn’t find a suitable reason. To my shame, I have never been to the Hawaiian Islands. But what is there to be ashamed of? It didn't happen. Been to many other exotic islands - Canaries, Maldives, Cape Verde (Cape Verde), Balearic, Haiti, Madeira, Malta, Cyprus, New Zealand, Bali, Singapore and many others. But I haven't been to Hawaii. But since today is the day of the discovery of these islands by the famous English navigator James Cook, I decided to introduce you to this work, and to the islands themselves.

By the way, James Cook discovered Hawaii on January 18, 1778 exactly one year after returning from his third trip across the Pacific Ocean here for the winter. Here, on February 14, 1779, he died in an unequal battle with the natives. At first, these islands were named Cook Sandwich - in honor of the first Lord of the Admiralty, John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich. And this name was used until the end of the 19th century. Then the Americans, who became interested in the production of sugar cane on these islands, began to interfere more and more in the affairs of the local population. And soon they completely took control of everything that happened on the islands, which they renamed Hawaiian.

In 1908, the port of Pearl Harbor, which had played the role of an international port for many decades, became the base of the US Navy. By the way, it was the Japanese air attack on this American base on December 7, 1941 that led the United States to enter World War II. And already on August 21, 1959, the ''Territory of Hawaii'' received the status of a US state, the 50th in a row.

Those who have been to the Hawaiian Islands enthusiastically talk about amazingly beautiful and formidable volcanoes, and about steep waterfalls, and about tropical forests covering the slopes of volcanoes, and about alpine meadows, and about fabulous plants - koa acacias, orchids, tree-like lobelia. And what amazing birds live in outlandish Hawaiian forests and groves!.. Hawaiian nene goose, Hawaiian owl, parrots, white-eyes... And what humpback whales, green turtles and Hawaiian seals are found in coastal waters!..

And yet, the biggest discovery for travelers who have visited the Hawaiian Islands is the Hawaiians themselves - open, friendly, good-natured. It is no coincidence that tourists call Hawaii the ''Friendly State''. It is worth taking a closer look at the pretty faces of the heroines of our today's porcelain composition in order to make sure that everything is exactly the way it is. You know, the kindness and sincerity of the Hawaiian people is even called in a special way - ''warmth of Aloha'' (the word aloha in Hawaiian means both ''hello'' and ''I love you'')...
