Porcelain Story
You know, going to the London theater is already an event. At different times, my children and I visited several famous theaters in the English capital and, of course, remembered it for a long time. There is an area in the center of London where 5-6 theaters are concentrated within a radius of maybe a kilometer. And in the evenings, the atmosphere of the approaching theatrical performance seems to overwhelm not only the magnificent theater entrances with a huge number of helpful ushers in bright liveries, but literally all the streets adjacent to this place. In a myriad of confectionery and cozy cafes, both avid theatergoers and discordant tourists from all over the world gather long before the performance.
In several neighboring squares, city bazaars finish their daily trade and, together with sidewalk cleaners, street musicians and magicians come out for the evening shift ...
In Her Royal Majesty's Theatre, where my children and I went to watch Lloyd Weber's The Phantom of the Opera (this theater is located somewhat away from the "theater" quarter, not far from Piccadilly), we were most at first struck not even by the interior - beautiful, rich, velvet with gold. We were struck by the democratic nature of the theatrical customs that prevailed in the "temple of art," as we used to say. A lot of efficient "peddlers" carried various chips, sweets in loudly crunchy packages, as well as ... cold beer in plastic glasses and ice cream right through the spectator rows! But the real shock, of course, we received from the theatrical performance itself. The voices of the main actors, amazing acoustics, live sound, incredibly beautiful costumes of the heroes of the performance ... And even all this faded into the background before the astonishment of the technical ideas and capabilities of the theater directors. Imagine, the stage within a few minutes turned from a cozy quiet courtyard into ... a lake with natural water, on which the heroes sailed in a real boat! And after some time, the audience, distracted for a moment by the inexplicable appearance somewhere in the sixth tier of the hall of the performer who had just stood on the stage, again turned their eyes downward - and instead of the lake they suddenly found the palace halls of a new mise-en-scène...
That was incredible. I won't bore you with our theatrical delights any longer. Let me just say that the porcelain composition presented to your attention has recently stood in the hall on the second floor of the Kyiv National Opera. And the children and I have repeatedly witnessed the enthusiastic perception by the theater visitors of the wonderful exposition of unique porcelain products dedicated to the theme of ballet, which were created at my favorite Spanish manufactory Lladro. This work is really beautiful, isn't it? Only skillful hands of talented sculptors could create such a marvelous miracle, capable of conveying even the mood of the heroes of this ballet story in fragile material.
