Porcelain Story

Remembering my rather long trip to Japan, where I was lucky enough to visit in 1991, I always regretted only one thing. At that time, the beauty of porcelain was not yet given to me to see and comprehend. And Japanese porcelain, which I learned about much later, along with Chinese and Korean, is the oldest on our planet. And it’s unlikely that at that time I would have been able to bring worthy porcelain items with me, because, I remember, there was exactly as much money in my pocket as the dream of most Soviet families cost - a “video double”, which included a small TV with a built-in cassette player.

Now it is even difficult for children to explain why this antediluvian miracle of electronic technology could attract us, but older people will probably understand me. Over the years, acquaintance with Japanese porcelain came, and beautiful Japanese porcelain products appeared in our collection ...

But why do I want to introduce you to this Spanish porcelain composition? Yes, because such a vase dedicated to the Japanese theme, neither before meeting with this work, nor after I have ever seen it. It's not just a vase in the traditional sense of the word. Not just a vessel skillfully painted by craftsmen and fired in a kiln. This is a multi-style work of porcelain art, demonstrating almost all the techniques for creating porcelain compositions.

This vase must be viewed from all sides, because it consists of a number of scenes from Japanese life with many characters from different plots, whose clothes and objects in their hands, in fact, are independent products, brought together thanks to the author's idea. And this is a real miracle, because the work is also technically brilliant. The work of Spanish masters is truly unique.
