Porcelain Story

This amazingly fine porcelain work was acquired in Milan. And, as often happens, completely by accident. On that trip, my wife and my son Dima were in Milan for only a few days. On an excursion. Milan is a very interesting city. How many times I had to visit it both before and after that trip, but it still attracts me with some amazing sincerity and warm comfort.

By the way, in that autumn time, despite the bright sun, it was quite cool. And we, having plenty of time on foot, decided to spend half a day on a comfortable trip. Knowing that some 40 kilometers from the city is the famous Lake Como, we went there. This lake became famous many centuries ago, when it was even called differently - Lario. It was on its shores that, for example, the famous Greek poet Virgil and the brilliant Italian painter, sculptor and Renaissance architect Leonardo da Vinci loved to relax. And today, the list of owners of coastal villas and palaces, located in this picturesque place at the foot of the Alps, includes the names of many world stars of show business and the film industry.

A small excursion boat, plowing the expanses of a 47-kilometer long and, by the way, very deep (up to 410 meters) lake, moored to the cozy embankments of small towns every 15-20 minutes. The monotony of the trip began to tire, and we decided to go out somewhere for a walk. After reading that the next stop would be some kind of Chernobio, I suggested getting off there. Still, at least remotely similar to something of its own in name - almost Chernobyl.

We walked for a long time along the cozy and absolutely deserted streets of the old town. Until suddenly, somewhere around the corner, we heard familiar voices. It can't be real!.. It turned out that it can. A minute later, we came face to face with one of the most famous couples in Ukraine! “Alexander Efimovich,” our old friend turned to me in amazement, “if I didn’t know you, I would definitely think that you are following us! ..” Yeah, that’s all I’ve been doing all my life.

The meeting, of course, was marked with a slight clink of glasses - on such an unusual occasion for a chance meeting, which none of us could ever have come up with. By the way, on other trips, we also accidentally met with the well-known Ilya Noyabrev and Valery Chiglyaev in the Belvedere Palace in Vienna, with TV producer Vasily Klimchuk in Paris at the entrance to Notre Dame Cathedral ...

In memory of our visit to Lake Como, we decided to buy the figurine presented to your attention, again, quite by chance seen in the window of a porcelain store. Now it occupies a non-random place in our collection.
